 |  Sake - Sushi bar, NYC The Vision To create a celebrated second level expansion to the current existing restaurant below for this Sushi/Sake bar. The bar will serve a full cocktail menu with sake as the primary cocktail as well as offer a light sushi menu. The program creates three zones: a bar area, a lounge area, and a tatami room for private small parties. The bar aims to capture an Asian character to echo its origins. Overall, the design incorporates linear elements to support the elongated setting of the space. Zen style furnishings of tree like stools and raw materials such as bamboo running the base of the bar, zebrawood as the bartop, and woven lit glass of chocolate and amber dyes illuminating the backbar create a serene beauty for intimate conversations. A sculptural stone water element has been designed on axis with the heavy sliding wood door entry to create a beautiful focal point which is also creates a quiet trickling effect for acoustical separation between the small lounge tables and the bar zone.
